The development of the Messerschmitt Me262 represented a major technological advancement for the German air force during World War II as it was the first jet aircraft to see combat service. Initial versions were equipped with four nose mounted 30 mm cannons. Later production had external rocket racks fitted to the underside of the wings. Nearly 1,500 Me262s were produced and virtually all were destroyed by Allied forces. Scheduled for a June 2006 release.
