The 1966 GTO is without question one of the most popular muscle cars ever built. For the first time in its production run, Pontiac designated the GTO as its own model and ended up selling 96,946 GTO's in 1966, the highest one year total of all GTO production years. One reason for the '66 GTO's success is the voluptuous coke-bottle styling of the body, which features kicked-up rear fender lines and a slightly tunneled backlight. Its interior featured new Strato bucket seats and a restyled instrument panel. The '66 was also the first GTO to use plastic on the front grilles instead of pot metal and aluminum.

The other major reason for its success lurked under the GTO's scooped hood: a potent 389 V-8 mill. The 66 GTO came standard with a 335 hp 389 and a three-speed column shift, but most enthusiasts opted for the upgrades: an extra $112.51 for the optional 360 hp tri-power 389 and $182.98 for a Hurst four-on-the-floor. 1966 was the last year for tri-power GTO's, with 19,045 being produced. Tri-power equipped Goats were capable of 14.05 second quarter mile times at 105 mph, and 0 - 60 times of 6.5 seconds.

The '66 GTO production run included three models: a two door coupe, which sold for $2,783; a two door hardtop for $2,847; and a two door convertible for $3,082. Today these have all become classic cars and are highly sought after by collectors and car lovers alike.

Revell-Monogram is proud to offer a fully detailed 1:25 scale replica of the real thing. It features a hot tri-power engine, Pontiac's unique Rally I wheels, full chassis and interior detail and even an accurate pair of Pontiac factory floor mats for the interior! And at only $15.50, its a car that everyone can add to their collection.
